William Gambrell

William (Bill) Jesse Gambrell, 88, of Cookeville, Tn.  Mr. Gambrell passed away Saturday Dec. 5, 2020. He was born May 28, 1932 in White County Tn. to the late Arville and Nora Lee Herron Gambrell.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Thelma Jean Bussell Gambrell of 69 years who passed away September of this year 2020. Sisters Mary Belle Thomas, Eula Mae Dunn, Melba Gambrell and infant brother Ray.

He is survived by his 6 children, Janice Myers, Richard Gambrell, Roger Gambrell, Karen (Robert) Eldridge, Jenny (David) Adkins, Barry (Lisa) Gambrell all of Cookeville. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survive by a sister Polly Marie Wilkins of Smithville, Tn. Plus a host of nieces and nephews and special caregivers Sharon Shands and Coralyn Rose.

Mr. Gambrell was “Bill” of many trades and talents from construction to auto body.  He is best know for his talent and love of fishing. He spent most of his free time fishing and camping on Center Hill Lake with a slew of family and friends. He was know as the camp cook. In his later years he missed this the most. He is now doing what he loves.

Funeral services will be held Friday Dec. 11, 2020 11 am at Thurman Funeral Home I Sparta TN.  Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery in White County TN. Family will receive friends at 10 am until time of services.  Thurman Funeral Home in Sparta is in charge of arrangements.
