Mr. Shirley T. Green, age 93 , a resident of Sparta, passed away November 24, 2012 at Life Care Health Center of Sparta. He was born July 3, 1919 in Sparta, Tennessee, to Bill Green and Effie Werley Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mamie Ellen Green, two sons; Shirley Thomas Green, Jr. and Robert Lynn Green, as well as a daughter Willene Green. He was also preceded with two brothers; Rance Green and Ike Green as well as one sister, Lizzie Baker.
He is survived by his three sons, John Leslie Green of Doyle, Charles Thomas Green of Sparta, and Loyd Douglas Green and wife Susan of Indiana; as well as a daughter Gladys Marie Green of Sparta, daughter-in-law Mary Seaman of Unionville, TN., along with several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at the Thurman Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Bro. Shawn Green will officiate . The family will receive friends on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Thurman Funeral Home from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M.
Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Sparta
