Ruth Billings Stewart, age 90, of Sparta, TN, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at NHC of Sparta. At the time of passing, she was surrounded by all of her children and grandchildren.
She was born in Dekalb County, TN on January 22, 1925 to parents Wm. "Billy" Billings & Mary Frances Young Billings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Stewart; infant son; parents, Wm. "Billy" Billings, Mary Frances Young Billings; siblings, Oscar Billings, Tom Billings, Willie LaFever, Ada Templeton, Betty Roberts, Maude Huskins, Ethel Holland, Lula Watson, and Jimmie Saylors.
She was survived by her children, William "Bill" Stewart and wife Lillian of McMinnville, Kathy Clark and husband Dennis of Sparta, Dorcas Marcum and husband Carl of Sparta; 7 grandchildren, Dr. Stephen Clark, Jimmy Clark, Justin Clark, Amanda Hargis, Erik Stewart, Chad Marcum, Callie Marcum; 7 great grandchildren, Sarah, Ruthie, Clara, & Ella Clark, Will & Jaxson Stewart, and Greyson Hargis; brother-in-laws, Ralph Saylors, Ray Watson; sister-in-law, Nell Crockett; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
ARRANGEMETS:
Family will receive friends at Thurman Funeral Home, April 6, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Services for family and friends will be at Old Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church on April 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. She will lie in state from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Bro. Alton Marcum will be officiating. Burial will be at Old Zion Cemetery following the services.
