Funeral services for Mrs. Ova Allen Wilson, 100, a long time resident of Sparta, will be at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from the chapel of Thurman Funeral Home with burial in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Howard Dailey. Pallbearers will be Johnny Hawkins, Lonnie Hawkins, John Judd, Mike Vigeanp, Micheal Wilson and Derek Wilson. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.
Ms. Wilson died January 23, 2010 at the Life Care Center in Sparta. She was born in Gainesboro, TN on July 13, 1909 to Russell Thomas Allen and Louisa Smith Allen.
Ms. Wilson had been a homemaker and she enjoyed gardening, flowers and visits with her friends and relatives. She loved church and reading in her bible. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 42 years, James Rufus Wilson; five sisters, Avo Allen, Edna Barnes, Mary Melton, Susie Florence Bean, and Annie Hawkins, and a brother, William Cardell Allen; and a grandson, Ronnie Weaver.
Survivors include two daughters, Clara and husband, William Domiano of Sparta; and Vera Story of Opelika, AL.; one grandson, Andrew Weaver; and one great grandson, Steve Weaver. Special nieces and nephews and spouses; Edwina Bean Doran (William); Jeanne Milton Judd (Johnny); Doris Hawkins; Savannah Allen; Carolyn Allen Smith; Betty Bean; Patsy Hawkins Bumbalough (J.T.); Peggy Hawkins Murphy (Glen); and the family of Loa and Dallas Passons; and a very special care giver, Judy Tallent.
Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
