Opal Sparks Oliver

Opal Sparks Oliver, age 97 of Sparta, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Sparta, Tennessee.

She was born on April 9, 1927 in White County, Tennessee, to the late J.T. and Laurine Young Sparks.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Laurine Young Sparks; stepmother, Willie Wheeler Sparks; her loving husband, Bobbie Evans Oliver; son, Jonathan Michael Oliver; younger sisters, Willie Mae Sparkman, Jonelda Hutson, and Thelma Jean Sparks; as well as all of her Aunts and Uncles. 

Survivors include her two children, Diane Kelley of Sparta, Tennessee, Donnie Oliver (Tara) of Franklin, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Christina Kelley of Sparta, Tennessee, Paige Kelley (Dustin Wilson) of Sparta, Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Della and Howard Alvarez of Sparta, Tennessee.

“We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday. And days before that too.

We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. All we have are memories, and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping, and we have you in our hearts.”

Arrangements:

Visitation will be Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. at Blue Springs Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 9, 2025 starting at 2:00 pm at Blue Springs Presbyterian Church. Burial at Blue Springs Cemetery.
