Opal Black

Opal Joy Black passed away on January 2, 2019 at NHC of Smithville at the age of 92.

She was born in Mckenzie, Tennessee to Edith Ethel and Homer Lee Horne on December 10, 1926.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Lloyd Black Sr.; Her son, William Lloyd Black Jr.; Two sisters and one brother.

She is Survived by her two daughters, Melanie (David) West of Asheville, North Carolina, Beth (Craig) Gibson of Waynesville, North Carolina; Two Sons, Greg (Lynn) Black of Asheville, North Carolina, Andy (Sylvia) Black of Smithville, Tennessee; Daughter in-law, Debra Black of Smithville, Tennessee; Grandchildren, Winnette (Stan) Bevis, Heather (Doug) Hennessee, Robbie (Jessica) Black, Jason (Danielle) Black, Chris (Liz) Black, Katie (Chad) Holby, Kiffin West and Raven, Craig Gibson Jr.; Great Grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Drew, Nate, Aidan, Chris, Anna, and Bella.

Pall Bearers: Robbie Black, Jason Black, Chris Black, Craig Gibson Jr., Drew Bevis, Craig Gibson Sr.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Kiffin West, Stan Bevis, Aidan Black, Nate Bevis, Chad Holby, Chris Thrower, Doug Hennessee.

Arrangements:

Family will accept visitors on Sunday, January 6, 2019 in the chapel of Thurman Funeral home from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM

Service will begin at 1:00PM Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Thurman Funeral Home. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
