Mildred Selby Cox, age 88, of Sparta, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at NHC of Cookeville, Tennessee.
She was born November 2, 1923 in White County, Tennessee to Jimmie Lee Selby and Lula Deann Sparks Selby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Thomas Cox; brothers, John Selby, Herbert Selby, Ernest Selby and James Selby; sisters, Alta England, Verda Burgess, Ura Eller and Gladys Dillard. Survivors include her sons, Gary Cox and wife Judy, Mike Cox and wife Vickie all of Sparta, Donnie Cox and wife Janice of Cookeville; daughter, Kay Cox of Cookeville; sister, Jewel Whiteaker of Ohio; sister in law, Maxine Selby of Ohio and Dot Selby of Sparta; grandchildren, Jeremy Cox of Sparta, Jason Cox of Louisville, Ky and Jennifer Sims and husband Jonathan of Sparta; three step grandchildren. Also a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Thurman Funeral Home, at 11:00 am with Dr. Charles McCaskey officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Monday, January 30, 2012 at Thurman Funeral Home, at 5:00 pm till 9:00 pm.
