Mary Alta Swindell was born October 4, 1935 to Thomas C. Roberts and Mary E. Atnip Roberts and died January 19, 2021 due to complications from Covid 19. She was a member of the Church of Christ at McElroy and enjoyed attending services as long as her health allowed.
She grew up and went to school at Quebeck where she played basketball and made many lifelong friends as well as meeting G W Swindell with whom she would marry and raise a family.
Mary was the mother of five daughters who she loved unconditionally. She was proud of her family; her girls and their husbands, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, she loved them.
Mary was a hard worker and she spent many years working at Red Kap before retiring to stay home where she was always working at something, mowing and canning vegetables from late spring through fall and quilting through the cold winters.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Harley Smallwood of Custer Kentucky, stepmother Edith Roberts of Quebeck, husband G W Swindell, daughter Rhonda Marie Swindell, grandson Jordan Maxwell, granddaughter Kelly Campbell and son-in-law Bobby E. Haston all of Quebeck, brothers Luther Roberts of Sparta and Richard Roberts of Quebeck, sister Arlena Shoemake of Russellville Kentucky.
Mary is survived by her daughters and sons-in-laws Vickie and Doug Goff and Karen and David Maxwell all of Quebeck, her daughters Linda Ann Jones of Murfreesboro and Janice Haston of Quebeck, grandsons Kenny Jones and wife Megan of Murfreesboro, Kyle Goff and wife Amanda of Sparta, granddaughters Libby West and husband Brian of Baxter and Bobbie Leigh Haston of Quebeck, great-grandsons Ethan and Caleb Jones of Sparta and great-granddaughters Alissa Glenn of Quebeck, Loralei Goff of Sparta and Annika Maxwell of Salt Lake City Utah, sister Rosie Taylor and husband Gene of Sparta and brothers Walter Roberts and wife Peggy of Quebeck and Joe Lee Roberts and wife Brenda of McMinnville, sisters-in-law Estelle Swindell and Ann Roberts and brother-in-law Glenn Slatten all of Quebeck and many nieces and nephews.
The family would ask that all who attend would be mindful that Covid-19 is still out there and among us so please practice social distancing and the use of masks.
ARRANGMENTS:
Graveside Service will be Friday January 22, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Jericho Cemetery. Interment at Jericho Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Doug Goff & Kyle Goff.
