Mary Hitchcock

Mrs. Mary Edith Moore Carter Hitchcock, 82, of Sparta, Tennessee passed away February 6, 2011, at the Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mrs. Carter Hitchcock was born June 30, 1928 to Everett Moore and Margarett Elizabeth McCulley Moore in White County, Tennessee. She had worked at the Shirt factory and was a caregiver.
Survivors include son, John Carter; husband, Cleve Hitchcock; three step-children, Fred Hitchcock, David Hitchcock and Emma Sue Hitchcock Massengale; one sister-in-law, Willease Deering Carter; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years Thurman Carter, son Michael Everett Carter; three brothers, James Estel Moore, Jay Braxton Moore and Malcom Moore; four sisters, Amy Velma Moore White, Thelma Lee Moore Martin, Retha Mae Moore Whitson and infant Moore.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Macedonia Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. Officiating will be Bro. Thomas McCulley, Bro. Jeffrey Howard and Bro. Cleve Hitchcock. Interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Sparta, Tennessee.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Thurman Funeral Home from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, at the families request a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society.
