Mrs. Margaret A. Barrow Gribble, age 94, passed away September 17, 2011 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Gribble attended Tennessee Tech University (2 years) and earned a Teacher's Certificate in Elementary Education. She worked as Executive Secretary for the White County Board of Education for 24 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Worthy Matron.
Mrs. Gribble was born September 24, 1916 in White County, Tennessee to Judge Edgar D. Austin and Jennie Lee Grissom Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Josephine Davis Austin; husbands, Aubrey Lowell Barrow and Bryan Gribble; great grandchild, Nicole Ann Perez; brothers and sister, Robert Austin, Thomas Austin, Merrill Austin, Marie Austin Hyder, James Austin, Barnett Austin, J. R. Austin and Charles Austin. Survivors include son, Lowell Barrow, friend Evelyn Jared and daughter in law, Sandra Barrow of Sparta; grandchildren, Chaz Barrow, Chasity Barrow Perez and husband Jesse Perez and Candace Barrow. Great grandchildren Jesse Dillon Perez and Alyssa Marie Perez. Brothers Kelly Austin and wife Benda and Harold Austin and wife Joyce of Chattanooga. Family will receive friends Monday, September 19, 2011 at Thurman Funeral Home from 6:oo P.M till 8:oo P.M.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at 3:30 P.M. at Thurman Funeral Home, with Bro. Doyle Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Pallbearers include T.K. Austin, Will Franklin Neal, Barry Austin, Robert Gribble, Robert Murdock, Allan Clouse and Bill Austin.
At families request, in lieu of flowers, donations be made of American Cancer Society.
