Judith Belinda James, 60, of Sparta, passed from this life January 14, 2010, at her residence. Judy was born October 3, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana. At 9 days old she was adopted by Ethyl Fitte. Judy grew up on Grand Bayou in Louisiana, where she attended Elementary School. She graduated High School at South Lafourche High School. She was then given a nursing scholarship at Charity Hospital. Judy studied to be a Registered Nurse (RN), and she became a very successful one. Judy graduated in 1971 from Charity Hospitals School of Nursing. Judy worked as a RN in Louisiana for 17 years. She worked as a RN in Sparta, TN for 20 years. She was always known as a very intelligent, respected, and well loved nurse by her co-workers and patients, and considered the family doctor. Judy became a parent in 1971 to her one and only child, Ian Matthew James. She was his only parent and she always prayed to live long enough to raise her son. She devoted everything to making him happy. Judy became a grandparent of four children. They were known as being her everything and dear to her heart. She adored every moment spent with them. Judy attended Christian Fellowship Church of Sparta. She could always be counted on to support youth ministries and other causes. She was very loved. Survivors include her mom, Ethyl Fitte; her son, Ian James, of Sparta; her daughter-in-law, Hope James, of Sparta; grandchildren: Megan, Ethan, Faith, and Evan James, of Sparta; 3 brothers: Maxie Machado, Reed Machado, and Marvin Ralph; 2 Sisters-In-Law; 5 other brothers and sisters; 6 nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be at 1 pm, Jan. 18, 2010, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Haston Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. Rev. Bennie Ancar will officiate the service. The family will receive friends 3 pm - 7 pm, Jan. 17th at the funeral home. Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
