Mr. Elanze Austin, Jr., age 76, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Cookeville Regional Hospital in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Mr. Austin was born to Elanze Austin, Sr. and Zula Mae Cope Austin, on October 24, 1933, in Sparta, Tennessee.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Austin of Sparta; sons, Billy Austin and Richard Austin, both of Sparta; daughters, Mariann Spivey of Crossville; June Jennings and husband, Richard of Smithville; Peggy Austin of Crossville; and Teresa Austin of Sparta. He is also survived with 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Elanze Austin III, and sister, Vena Burns. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010, at the Chapel of Thurman Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Bro. Ralph Reagan. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Cumberland County. Family will receive friends at Thurman Funeral Home on Friday, August 14, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m. Thurman Funeral Home of Sparta, TN is in charge of the arrangements.
