Dudley Clark Jr. age 97 of Stuart Virginia passed away at his home on April 11, 2025. Dudley was born on October 30, 1927 to the late Dudley Clark and Eno Mae (Dodson) Clark in Sparta TN. Prior to his Stuart residence Dudley lived in Richmond, IN and Mt. Juliet TN.
In addition to his parents Dudley was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Anna Marie Clark, an infant daughter Nancy Ann Clark, one brother Harvie J. Clark of New Paris, Ohio. Two sisters, Anna Lee (Clark) Swindle and Dorothy M. (Clark) Graham of Sparta TN.
Dudley retired from Alcoa Aluminum as a maintenance mechanic. His many years also found him as a car salesman, appliance and HVAC sales and repairman, auctioneer and tractor and farm implement dealer. A military veteran, Dudley served in the Navy aboard the USS Gunason in World War II. During the Korean War, serving in the Army at Fort Richardson in Alaska. In retirement Dudley enjoyed card games with friends and family, golfing and raising his garden so he could give most of it away. He was also known to participate in a practical joke on occasion if the opportunity arose. His most satisfying time was spent helping others, he was active with Habitat for Humanity in Wilson County TN and later with the Patrick County Food Bank for 19 years working well into his 90’s. Dudley was also active with his church family, Stuart Presbyterian.
Dudley is survived by his sister Betty (Clark) Demps of Sparta TN. His son Jeffrey Clark, special friend Jennifer Myers of Stuart VA. Two granddaughters, Jessica Royster (Ben) of Columbus, OH. Sarah Smith (Toby) of Mechanicsburg, PA. Three great grandsons, Parker, Gabriel and Wesley Smith. One sister-in-law Lucille Demps of Sparta TN. Many nieces and nephews and many, many good friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Patrick County Food Bank, 108 Commerce Street, Stuart VA 24171. Services conducted by Thurman Funeral Home, Sparta TN. Reverends Danny Redman and Kevin Wilson officiating with burial at the Upper Cherry Creek Cemetery in Sparta, TN.
