Alvin Stewart

Mr. Alvin Eugene "Gene" Stewart, 86, passed away Saturday,November 6, 2010, at his residence in the Old Zion Community in Sparta, Tennessee.
Mr. Stewart was born to Alvin H. Stewart and Ada Dorcas McCulley Stewart on May 24,1924 in White County, TN.
Mr.Stewart was a member of the Old Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Mildred Watson Stewart of Sparta, TN; daughters and son-in-laws, Vicki Becker and husband, Fred of Richmond, TX; and Virginia Teeple and husband, Jim of Sparta, TN; sister, Nell Crockett of Strawberry Plains, TN; grandchildren, Kristen McGaughey, Jamie Hogan, Gabe Teeple and Luke Teeple; great-grandchildren, Lane McGaughey, Brayden Hogan, Coalton Hogan, James Teeple and Sam Teeple.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Burton Stewart and James Edward Stewart.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Thurman Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. Officiating will be Bro. Jim McGill and Bro. James Byrd. Interment will follow in the Old Zion Cemetery. Pall Bearers are Gabe Teeple, Luke Teeple, Harold Thurman, Dr. Stephen Clark, Jim Clark, Justin Clark, Jeffrey Cantrell and Chad Marcum. Family will receive friends Monday, November 8, 2010 at Thurman Funeral Home from 5:00 pm till 9:00 pm.
